Pool House Estate

An acre of lawn with no reason to walk into it
Large flat sites are harder than steep ones. Without level change there is nothing to reveal, and without shade there is nowhere to stop — so an acre of beautifully maintained lawn ends up being looked at rather than used.
The clients swam daily and entertained often. Both of those facts became the structure of the plan.

★★★★★
“The best contracting experience we have had, full stop. The project manager was extraordinary.”
The challenge
Scale without structure
The property was a flat, featureless acre — impressive in size and impossible to inhabit. There was no shade, no destination beyond the terrace, and a water table high enough to complicate any pool excavation.
Our solution
A spine of shade and water
A 25-metre pool runs the long axis of the site, terminating at a shaded pool house terrace. Twelve mature olives, craned in and transplanted over two days, form an allée that gives the lawn scale and a reason to walk its length. A raised water table drove a fully engineered lined pool shell.
